JSJ In Depth

(Jin Shin Jyutsu translated)

Jin Shin Jyutsu balances and harmonizes body, mind and spirit.  The energy body, which most people cannot see but most can feel, is the blueprint for the physical body.  The energy body breathes, like the physical body.  Rivers of energy (meridians) bring in and transport life force throughout the whole system, eventually “exhaling” that energy to bring in new.  When meridians become blocked, usually at certain strategic points, energy slows down.  It eventually clogs the area, and if not unblocked, can seriously threaten the whole system.   Accidents, poor living & thinking, and aging are common reasons for slowing of energy.

Based on ancient principles of healing from Asia, including acupuncture theory, Jin Shin Jyutsu focuses on 26 sets of points (Safety Energy Locks) in the body.  By simply holding these points, meridians can be unblocked and energized to restore proper functioning of systems in the body.  This includes all the organ systems (liver, gall bladder, stomach, kidney, heart, etc.) and more fundamental pathways of the energy body.

Jin Shin Jyutsu is so powerful that sometimes, it seems almost magical.  It is not.  It is based upon traditions that were kept secret for centuries, as was common with specialized knowledge in ancient times.

Jin Shin Jyutsu assists in balancing and healing all kinds of physical “projects.”   If you’ve had surgery, if you’ve injured yourself, if you suffer from labels like “fibromyalgia,” “diabetes,” “bad back,” “heart disease,” “asthma,” and many other signs of poor physical health, Jin Shin Jyutsu can help.  Sometimes it can be the primary solution.   After all, the energy system is the blueprint for the physical system.  Some believe that even accidents can be predicted by the condition of the energy system.

Changes in the energy system, as perceived by sensitive people, happen before changes in the physical system.  If you develop a physical symptom, you’ve had energy blockages for a long time before that!  If the energy is unblocked, physical healing results.

Would You Like to Be Happier?

A very exciting aspect of Jin Shin Jyutsu is how it influences our emotional states.  In acupuncture, there are 12 organ systems, in 6 pairs.  Examples of organ system pairs are liver & gall bladder, kidney & bladder, heart & small intestine, lung & large intestine, etc.

Jin Shin Jyutsu gives these organ systems special attention.  And each organ has an associated emotional state if it becomes unbalanced.  By balancing that organ, the emotion is relieved.  If you tend to anger easily, your liver needs help.  If you are sad, treat your lung.  If you are chronically fearful, help your bladder system.  And so forth . . .

What’s interesting is that it works both ways.  What if a person suffers a physical injury that ultimately hurts an organ system?  Eventually, he will have emotional suffering connected with that organ, because of the slow down and blockages.  In that case, a physical incident causes the emotional change.

Perhaps another person is in good health, but indulges in poor emotions, such as self-pity or anger.  Eventually, that can build and compromise the physical organ system.  It’s a chicken-or-egg situation.

Jin Shin Jyutsu does not judge . . . it merely enters that cycle and stops the reinforcement.

Jin Shin Jyutsu can involve complex routines performed by the professional practitioner.  A series of professional treatments is often suggested in the beginning.  But Jin Shin Jyutsu can also be as simple as holding your own fingers.  There are many self-care techniques in Jin Shin Jyutsu, and care of the self is highly encouraged.  It is empowering and it is free!
